Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) - Berlin
Your Impact
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the future of our digital healthcare platform. In this role, you’ll build critical features across our core backend systems, drive the evolution of our architecture, and create robust, scalable services that power life-saving technologies. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Operations, and Customer Success—you’ll directly contribute to improving the lives of thousands of elderly people and their families. You’ll also mentor fellow engineers and help cultivate a strong engineering culture of quality, collaboration, and ownership.
Your Mission
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable services in a microservice architecture
- Power critical user-facing products: Webshop, Customer Portal, Backoffice, and Mobile Apps
- Build and manage integrations with third-party tools, including CRMs and payment platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Chargebee)
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define technical requirements and ship impactful features
- Drive technical discussions, participate in code reviews, and help define best practices
- Support the full software lifecycle—from idea to production—ensuring high quality and resilience
- Contribute to the evolution of our platform architecture, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Provide mentorship and support to team members, enabling technical growth and knowledge sharing
- Act as a partner to customer-facing teams to investigate and resolve complex issues quickly and effectively
Your Talent
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally in fast-paced, startup environments
- Proven ability to own complex projects end-to-end and operate with a high degree of autonomy
- Deep expertise in Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot
- Solid knowledge of microservice architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven design
- Experienced with PostgreSQL and key AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, and S3
- Skilled in integrating third-party APIs and CRMs
- Familiar with Firebase, including messaging and analytics
- Comfortable operating across the stack when needed
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and solutions-driven with a high attention to detail
- Nice to Have:

Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization and orchestration technologies
